Beyond the Numbers: How To Know You are Making a Difference Utilizing the Outcomes Measurement Process to Assess Program Impact

Outline or Narrative of Presentation

This workshop will enable you to:

bullet Understand the significance of evaluation and outcomes measurement that is beyond numbers served  (i.e. your OUTPUTS)
bullet Implement an outcomes measurement process within your organization
bullet Identify what your program/project does well
bullet Identify to what extent your program/project is meeting its goals and objectives
bullet Explore the most effective components of your program/project
bullet Discuss appropriate evaluation measures that assess program progress and program impact
bullet Begin to develop an evaluation plan for your respective program/project
bullet Understand how outcomes measurement or a program evaluation can “sell” your program/project to prospective funders

Non profit organizations are increasingly being pressured to measure and report their outcomes regularly to funders and other constituents.  Service organizations are increasingly recognizing that they need some form of regular feedback on their outcomes to help them improve their services.  Outcomes measurement is a process by which non profit organizations can help meet these needs.  An outcome describes a specific desirable result or quality of an organization’s service.  Outcomes measurement involves the identification of outcomes; development of appropriate outcome indicators and data collection procedures; data analysis to better understand organization achievements; user-friendly reporting of the findings.  This workshop will enable participants to begin or enhance their path towards effective outcomes measurement that inevitably leads to greater positive response from potential funders !!

Laurie  Roemmele-Roberts, Ph.D.

I am in my 17th year of consulting. My company, PEQ, has facilitated a wonderful career working with non profit agencies, Counties, State, school districts, and healthcare organizations. I am quite humbled by the numerous accolades I have received regarding my entertaining and professional presentation skills as a trainer/facilitator. I am passionate about the work I do, and therefore, participants and clients are always intrigued and motivated to learn while making great changes in their respective organizations. I have also experienced tremendous success as a grant writer; strategic planner; team-building specialist; curriculum and evaluation expert; Board development consultant; and coach to many local and state leaders.

I have also been at the forefront of United Way's initiative to implement outcome measurement processes throughout their agencies, and most recently, developed a new application process and outcomes measurement for the United Way in my County. I will be training agencies, Board members, and volunteers as they transition to this new initiative. I have worked as an evaluator for the NJ Departments of Education and Labor to ensure their investment is producing significant outcomes. I look forward to working with organizations as a true collaborator in service to others. That is the greatest benefit I receive from my work, and it definitely manifests itself through my commitment and work.
