Prudential Foundation Ready to Learn Program for education reform efforts that strengthen public education at the elementary school level: systemic school reform; improving the quality of teachers, principals and other school leaders, and arts education; early childhood care and education initiatives, and strategies to improve literacy that address professional development for teachers, family literacy programs or literacy in the early years. Maximum Award: $25,000-$1 million. Eligibility: Public education at the elementary school level. The foundation supports pluralism and equal opportunity in its grant making and in its internal policies. The opportunities that prospective grantee organizations provide for minorities and women are considered in evaluating proposals.

Applications are considered throughout the year. Normally applicants may expect to receive within six weeks an indication of whether their proposals are within the foundation’s program interests and budget limitations. Activities supported by grants and program-related investments must be charitable, educational or scientific, as defined under the appropriate provisions of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and Treasury Regulations. The foundation monitors grants through regular financial and narrative reports submitted by the grantee.

Our giving in the Environment currently focuses on sustainability in New Jersey. We want to: preserve open space in the Highlands, Pinelands, and Delaware Bay Shore areas; conserve New Jersey’s natural resources: air, water, soil, and wildlife; and encourage New Jersey municipalities and cities to follow the recommendations of the State Development and Redevelopment Plan (the “State Plan”).

New applicants should submit a one-page letter of inquiry to determine if a project falls within our guidelines. Letters of inquiry may be submitted throughout the year, but must be received at least two weeks prior to the corresponding proposal submission deadline.

You know how a child's face lights up when things finally make sense? Well, Toyota's goal is to electrify the minds of people all ages through our support of education programs. Our partnerships with national nonprofit organizations include programs that address issues such as family literacy, K-12th grade education, technical and higher education as well as environmental education.
 

NATURE OF LEARNING GRANTS

The National Wildlife Refuge System offers grants of up to $5,000 to an educator willing to partner with a national wildlife refuge, using its resources as an outdoor classroom. SAVE OUR HISTORY GRANTS

The History Channel offers grants of up to $10,000 for nonprofit history organizations (such as museums or libraries) to partner with schools to develop educational history projects. The deadline is June 2. http://www.saveourhistory.com/pres_org/grants.html    

LEARNING IN THE ARTS

The National Endowment for the Arts awards arts organizations and school districts $10,000 to $100,000 for educational events, projects, or programs that encourage youth appreciation of and engagement with the arts.
